Who We Are
London Road Active Travel Survey was formed by an independent group of local residents who are motivated by the feeling that the survey prepared by Surrey County Council on Commonplace does not address the key issues, is couched in terms which encourage only favourable responses and does not allow locals to clearly express their views.
Surrey County Council’s survey does not cover key issues such as:
- should “A” road traffic be re-routed to residential roads?
- are you happy with the safety of shared pedestrian/cycleways and Dutch roundabouts?
- do the benefits justify the increased congestion?
- is it the right place to spend c.£4.2m?
- will it positively or negatively impact local businesses?
- should parking by Stoke Park be reduced?
And, having considered the impact, costs and the benefits, do you believe the scheme should proceed?
We invite people most impacted by these proposals to complete an alternative survey which will allow them to have their say in a clear and unequivocable manner.
We also became aware that many local residents were unaware of Surrey County Council’s proposals. A flyer was produced and distributed, inviting people to participate in this survey.
All the statements on the flyer, and in the alternative survey, have been fact checked and cross referenced to Surrey County Council documents and statements.
If you would like to express your views, please complete this survey

By contrast, Surrey County Council’s survey is largely focused on a few points:
- whether the scheme contributes to pedestrian and cyclist safety
- do the revised proposals minimise daytime disruption during construction (but nothing about disruption afterwards)
- whether it’s important to you that the scheme contributes to net zero ambitions (but not whether you believe the scheme achieves it)
