Urgent: London Road Active Scheme May Still Go Ahead
ACTION REQUIRED – IF YOU AGREE, PLEASE OBJECT TO THE SCHEME AS OUTLINED BELOW
Thank you to those who completed our survey about the London Road Active Travel scheme in late 2023. 1,241 people responded (96% local to Guildford) and there was an overwhelming 87% against the scheme.
Despite this, Surrey County Council (“SCC”) are still considering proceeding with a largely unchanged Section 1 (from Aldi to Boxgrove roundabout) and changing Boxgrove to essentially half a “Dutch style” roundabout (which continues to be criticised in Cambridge).
We urge you to email SCC cabinet members, expressing your dissatisfaction to the scheme before SCC votes on Tuesday 29 October. Ideally, your email should reach them no later than close of business on Friday, 25th October.
SCC undertook to address and provides assurances over the key concerns raised but have not done so. The significant issues around safety, increased traffic congestion, air pollution and poor value for money remain. If you would like more information, some additional details are below, and on our website.
